Since opening our office in 2002, we have been passionately committed to helping gay couples and single men from around the world create their families with the help of egg donation. Here’s how it works:
Who will contribute eggs?
As a gay couple or single father, the selection of your egg donor is an important decision in choosing the biology of your future offspring. To begin searching for your perfect match, you may want to consider making a list of minimum criteria important to you. These may be characteristics such as appearance and ethnicity, personality, hobbies, or educational background.
Who will contribute sperm?
Your fertility physician can use your sperm for insemination using in vitro fertilization. As a gay couple, you have three options:
OPTION 1: You may choose to undergo one egg retrieval procedure with one egg donor, taking advantage of split insemination (also called a “split cycle” or a “shared cycle”). In this process, half of the eggs retrieved from your egg donor’s egg retrieval procedure are inseminated with one partner’s sperm and the other half of the eggs retrieved at your egg donor’s egg retrieval procedure are inseminated with the other partner’s sperm.
OPTION 2: You may choose to undergo two egg retrieval procedures with the same egg donor, using the sperm from each partner to inseminate all the eggs retrieved from each egg retrieval procedure.
OPTION 3: You may choose two different egg donors and inseminate all the eggs retrieved from each of the egg retrieval procedures individually.
NOTE: the number and size of oocytes and sperm illustrated above are for explanatory purposes, only.
Who will carry our pregnancy?
As a gay couple or single father using egg donation, you can create the family you’ve always dreamed of having with the help of a gestational surrogate.
